Amber Cove is located near to the city of Puerto Plato in the Dominican Republic and created specifically to cater for the cruise industry – bringing big ships back to the area for the first time in more than 25 years.

Nearby Puerto Plata is a city that is worth exploring if time allows, with the opportunity to explore colonial history with a visit to the 16th century Fortaleza San Felipe that was built to help defend the city from attack by pirates.
The city if also home to an impressive museum focused around Amber, an old iron lighthouse and various houses dating back to the time of the Victorians.
