Búzios is located near to Rio de Janiero and rose to prominence in the 1960s when the actress Brigitte Bardot was photographed enjoying a summer break on one of the many beaches that surround the resort town.
In fact, a statue of the actress can still be found alongside the oceanfront to serve as a permanent reminder of her visit and the impact it had.
Nicknamed as ‘Brazil’s St Tropez’ as a result, Búzios became popular with people who wanted to escape the busy cities to relax and is now well visited by cruise lines operating in the region.
The main attraction of the fashionable resort that has developed from what was once just a small fishing village are the beaches, with more than 20 where you can spend some time ashore relaxing under the sun.
You can also take a trip on a small traditional schooner around the various bays that can be found near to Búzios and enjoy a selection of water-based activities at the same time.
That can include everything from a refreshing swim in the clear blue waters to snorkeling and scuba diving.
Dining is available in a varied selection of restaurants and bars that line the streets, most notably Rua das Pedras, where you can expect to find all manner of cuisine from both the local region and much further afield.
There is also plenty of opportunity to pick up some souvenirs in the local stores and boutiques that will serve as the perfect reminder of your time ashore making the most of the scenic surroundings that Búzios has to offer.
