There is plenty more to do in Dubai besides shopping however, with a chance to see both a range of attractions both old and new whilst visiting the city.
The likes of the Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House - the home of the former ruler of Dubai - and the Al Fahidi Fort are amongst the historic attractions that are worth a visit, with the latter being the oldest building still standing in the city.
Amongst the more modern options are the Burj Khalifa, which is currently the tallest building to be found anywhere in the world. A visit to one of the two observation decks provides astonishing views for miles around, with the New Deck Observatory being the second highest observation deck in the world.
The nearby Dubai Fountain has a choreographed display a number of times a day where jets of water shoot more than 150m into the air, with the water 'performing' to a wide range of different pieces of music.
Dubai is also home a a huge aquarium, a popular water park and even an indoor ski slope, whilst those who would prefer to get away from the crowds could visit the Dubai Miracle Garden to stroll through one of the largest flower gardens in the world.
Special trips out into the surrounding desert might also be possible depending on the excursions that are offered by your cruise line.
