If there is a destination in the USA that is all about fun, then Orlando will be that place.
Located in the state of Florida, Orlando is famous throughout the world for its theme parks, with Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Studios and the Kennedy Space Centre amongst those that are located in the area.
Spending time in the big theme parks might not be possible if you are simply arriving in Orlando for the day on your journey along the East Coast, but selecting the port as the start or end point of your trip solves that problem.
For that reason, Orlando is a popular choice for a multi-centre break that includes a cruise element; particularly with families who want to embrace everything that the area has to offer.
Walt Disney World is the obvious draw as one of the world’s top family attractions and has welcomed millions of a visitors a year since opening in the 1970s, with multiple parks where you’ll be able to create life-long memories.
Head for Universal Studios and you can spend some time exploring the various movie themed attractions, which include the opportunity to meet famous characters from the likes of the Simpsons and the Minions or to sample rides themed around top movies like Harry Potter and Jurassic Park.
You could also try the famous Studio Tour, which shows the inner works of the famous park and has been the major attraction for a number of years.
Further thrills can come if you get up close to a shuttle at the Kennedy Space Centre, meet wildlife at Busch Gardens or enjoy a thrilling ride on one of the largest rollercoasters in the USA at SeaWorld.
You might even decide to head out of Orlando to explore the nearby Everglades; the huge expanse of tropical wetlands that are home to various endangered species.
Should you only be spending limited time in Orlando, there is still plenty to see and do, with the likes of the Orlando Eye and the Florida Mall worth checking out.
There are also plenty of places to grab a bite to eat if you want to sample some of the local cuisine, with the area around the waterfront on Port Canaveral – where the large cruise ships dock – being particularly popular.
