Seville is one of the largest cities in Spain and one that is popular with people enjoying a cruise around the Mediterranean.
Known for its historic treasures, Seville is a city that is packed with history and culture but which also offers everything that the modern day visitor will be looking for at the same time.
The cobbled streets of Seville are ripe for exploring, and – as with many cities around the Mediterranean – the capital of Andalusia has an Old Town area that is home to a number of the major attractions.
These include the 15th century gothic cathedral that is one of the largest churches to be found in Europe, having taken more than 100 years to be built. The Giralda Bell Tower sits on the same site and affords impressive views across the surrounding city landscapes.
Also well worth a visit is the Alcázar of Seville, one of a number of World Heritage Sites within the city.
Accessed through the Puerto del León, the palace complex houses a range of buildings that include the Palacio de Don Pedro and the Cuarto Real Arto.
The winding streets of the Jewish Quarter are some of the most picturesque in the city and provide the chance to take a step back in time to a bygone era, whilst a trip to the Museum of Fine Arts provides the chance to take a journey through Spanish art from medieval times right through to the 20th century.
Seville is a city where you’re sure to be entertained, with the lure of the flamenco being particularly strong. Expect to see plenty of performers showing their skills over the course of your time ashore, whilst alternative entertainment could be provided by a visit to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, which is home to Seville’s famous dancing stallions.
As well as sampling some local cuisine, you’d be well advised to sample some traditional sherry whilst in the city, with the area around Seville being famous for the drink.
