Sir Bani Yas Island is the largest natural island in the United Arab Emirates and sits just over 100 miles away from the city of Abu Dhabi.
A number of cruise lines that are sailing in the Middle East include the island as part of their itineraries, providing an alternative to the tower sky scrapers and opulent buildings that are found in many of the modern day cities.
Sir Bani Yas is all about the great outdoors, with the island having been home to a huge nature reserve established by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan - the founding father of the UAE - in the 1970s.
Free roaming wildlife is a key feature of the island, with a wide array of species having been introduced as part of an expansive wildlife park that covers around half of the island.
Ostrich, gazelle, giraffes and even cheetahs can be found on the island, whilst the surrounding waters are home to the likes of dolphins and sea turtles - all of which can be seen if you book onto one of the special guided tours that are available.
Away from the wildlife, you could spend some time exploring the ruins of a christian church that dates back to the seventh century, head out for hike on a walking excursion of even take to a mountain bike for a scenic ride through the impressive natural landscapes.
There are various beaches where you can either relax under the sun or try a range of different watersports, whilst there are limited options when it comes to grabbing a bite to eat or picking up some souvenirs.
